Defining Mascara is a black that separates and lengthens without building a fringe that does not belong to her. One coat is the look. A second only where she wants the outer lashes to show in profile. It should not flake into the afternoon and it should not weigh the lid. After the palette, or with nothing on the lid at all, this is enough eye. The face stays the subject. The lash is the punctuation.

The eye is open and definite. She does not look as if she is wearing a strip of something. In photographs the lash is there, and the woman is still the point.
